Meet Lizzie – Singer of the Lakes, an award-winning, professionally trained classical crossover vocalist bringing elegance, warmth and timeless musical charm to weddings, special occasions, concerts and events. Originally from Kendal in the beautiful Lake District, Cumbria, and now residing in Darlington, Singer of the Lakes has over 15 years of professional experience performing internationally at prestigious venues, luxury resorts, theatres and cruise ships.
Her distinctive musical style combines the beauty of classical vocals with vintage favourites, musical theatre, timeless classics and modern hits, all delivered with a unique classical crossover twist. With elegant vocals, a warm and personable nature, and carefully prepared set lists tailored to each occasion, Singer of the Lakes creates sophisticated performances designed to make every event feel special.
Her musical journey began in Kendal before taking her to London to pursue professional training. She studied Musical Theatre at the renowned Laine Theatre Arts and Guildford School of Acting, developing the vocal, theatrical and performance skills that continue to shape her work today. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning.
Over more than 15 years, Singer of the Lakes has performed in prestigious theatres, concert halls, luxury hotels, cruise ships and exclusive venues around the world. Early in her career, she toured Europe and America with the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, before spending five years touring the Mediterranean, visiting destinations including Greece, Turkey, Spain and Italy.
One of her favourite roles in her early career was performing in the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, where she had the honour of performing for Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, around the time of their official engagement announcement. This remains a particularly special memory from her performing career.
Furthermore, one of her greatest professional achievements was singing Mahler's Symphony No. 2 at the Royal Albert Hall, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. Other highlights include appearing at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, performing at Her Majesty's Theatre in London and singing at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles conducted by Eric Whitacre.
Singer of the Lakes has also enjoyed performing alongside acclaimed artists and musical ensembles, including G4, The King's Singers, the Swingle Singers, Eric Whitacre, Sir John Rutter, Sir David Willcocks and Julian Lloyd Webber. She has also performed with the Royal Northern Sinfonia at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead.
Her international classical crossover career has taken her to venues and destinations across the globe. She has toured as part of a three-part classical crossover group, combining her voice with fellow performers to create a distinctive musical experience for international audiences. Alongside group performances, Singer of the Lakes has presented her own classical crossover act as a guest entertainer at TUI Sensatori resorts and aboard Marella Cruises. These experiences have allowed her to share her love of classical music, vintage favourites and well-loved songs with audiences from around the world.
Her international performance credits also include Maxx Royal in Belek, Turkey, a luxury destination associated with major golfing events, alongside venues and resorts connected with brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton, Grecotel, Limak, Sentido and Diamond Resorts.
Now based in the North East of England, she continues to enjoy an active musical life within the region. Alongside her solo work, she sings with Darlington Choral Society and Darlington Operatic Society, performing with the latter at Darlington Hippodrome. Singer of the Lakes also performs locally as a guest soloist, including singing the alto soloist role in Handel's Messiah with Newcastle Choral Society in Newcastle. These performances reflect her love of classical repertoire and the opportunity to work with talented choirs, musicians and musical directors.
She has also performed as a soloist and as a member of the Royal Northern Sinfonia Chorus during a Christmas tour, appearing at Durham Cathedral and other venues across the North East. Lizzie is also a keen volunteer with the Cockerton Community Group, singing at several prominent special occasions across the year, such as Summer Fairs, Remembrance Sunday and Christmas Lights Switch on. Performing in these wonderful settings is a special part of her musical life, bringing together her love of choral music, classical singing and the atmosphere of live performance.
Singer of the Lakes is also a singer-songwriter, writing and releasing her own original music. Her songs, What Is the Word and Independent, are available on major music streaming platforms, giving listeners another opportunity to discover her creativity and musical identity.
Her work has been recognised through several awards and nominations celebrating her musical career and contribution to the community. In 2026, Singer of the Lakes received the Heart of the Community Award for the Cockerton Community and Business Group and was named Classical Singer of the Year 2026 by the Prestige Awards.
In 2025, she reached the semi-final of the Classical Crossover Star Competition organised by Crossover Music Magazine. In 2024, she was an official nominee and finalist for Best Female Solo Artist at the National Entertainment Awards for her work in the North East of England.
Christmas holds a particularly special place in her musical calendar. Every December, Singer of the Lakes presents her own annual Christmas Concert, celebrating the festive season through beautiful vocals, familiar favourites and the magic of live music.
